Late Lala Fakir Chandaji laid the foundation
of Indian Handicraft Emporium in late 18th. Century when he started the business in the name and style of M/s
Fakirchand Raghunath Dass. Located in the vicinity of the great mosque -Jama Masjid, this
later came to be known as the Ivory Mart.

Lala Raghunath later took over the reins of the organisation. A very hard working and
dynamic personality, he earned himself the title of Kursi Nashin
in 1905. It was through his commitment and dedication that we rose to be one of the
biggest emporiums in the country.
Indian Handicraft Emporium, in its present location was established in the year 1966
and inaugurated by the then President of India, His Excellency Dr. Zakir Hussain.
